Our activities through the years
Battleship
What is Battleship?
Well Battleship is a game where the main objective is to sink the other persons ships, in this case there will be a total of six ships that you will have to search for. This game has been played many times in the Gryffindor Common Room.
How do I play?
Gryffindor's version of Battleship is run a bit differently than any other normal Battleship game. The three dens compete against each other. The first den who has all their ships sunk ends in third place, the second one down is in second place, and the winning den is the den that still has ships left.
Gryfftoberfest
Gryfftoberfest is a yearly event. It happens every October and lasts the whole duration of the month. Other houses have their own month of celebration but in October, the month belongs to us. (There have been instances though when our website had a bit f a cough and decided to die on us for a month so Gryfftoberfest was moved to the next month)
During this month, the Lions participate to see which den will reign supreme. However, there are small individual challenges like, best signature, writing, motto, etc.
At the end of the month The person with the most points will win rubies and the den with the most points get to make fun of the other two dens because they are THE WINNERS!!!! Yes it gets rubbed in the faces, all in good fun though.
Gryffindor Summer Camps
By: Sydney Alexandra
Every summer after school is let out, we at Gryffindor house have to figure out how to keep the natives happy and satisfied so havoc will not be created. Like other houses, we decide to hold a summer camp with all these activities current Lions can partake. It can range from puzzles, to forum games, to contests. Each year different activities are planned and led by volunteers.
This year, summer camp is going to kick patooshka. The students will be seperated into 3 Camps; Camp Squishy, Camp Sharkbait, and Camp Squirt. Just so you are aware, Gryffindor Summer Camp 2011 is planning to open July 1st, if everything goes as planned that is. This year’s theme is *******. AHAHA YOU THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO TELL YOU? Silly children. Okay, so maybe I don’t know either, but isn’t that the fun part about Summer Camp? The element of surprise? I think so, anyways. This years SC objective is one of the following: A) Win Get Points B) Make Jenny happy or C) All of the above. I personally like C, it combines three things I love. And the point of this year’s Summer Camp you may ask? “To keep you muchkins occupied” says Jenny. So be sure that you are around this summer, because it looks like Gryff Summer Camp 2011 is going to be something you most definitely do not want to miss.
Paw Print
The Paw Print the the house news paper. Like other houses, we can have submissions from fellow Gryffindors and other House members. This is a great way that all houses can earn points. We try to get the Paw Print out every month, however due to outside forces (real life) sometimes that isn't possible.
The current Editor in Chief is Prof. Jenny Lupin. When we write for a current month we try to keep the articles related to that time of the year. If it is October, we try to write about Gryfftoberfest, scary movies, Halloween, etc.
We accept submissions from other houses in the forms of graphics, editorials, stories, poems or puzzles.
